About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for you for end-of-life care:

  • in the home
  • in palliative and intensive care units
  • in nursing homes
  • in assisted living
  • or on the street (for homeless people) or in transitional homes

Your Tasks

End-of-life care is multifaceted.
Sometimes it's conversations or (if mobility is available) walks, reading aloud, simply being there, sharing silence, but also joy and laughter, supportive conversations with relatives. You create space for encounters.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
Skills that you already have:

  • Empathy
  • the willingness to self-reflect
  • The ability to work in a team
  • the ability to perceive yourself and others
  • Openness and respect for other world views and beliefs
You will be trained for your voluntary work in a preparatory course. This will give you the opportunity to deal intensively with the topics of dying, death and grief.

Time required

Important notice

Dying accompaniment is learned through accompanying the dying. We support you in this.

The next courses and dates in 2025 can be found on our homepage: https://humanistisch.de/x/visite-bb/inhalte/sterbebegleitungvorbereitungskurs
After the training, the practical assignment begins, i.e. your first accompaniment.
We are always available for you and offer regular supervision.

Call us or write to us if you have any questions, would like to get to know us or need more information.
