About the volunteering opportunity
Would you like to work for a society that excludes no one? Would you like to bring people into contact with each other and campaign for openness and tolerance? Do you enjoy meeting new people and exchanging ideas? Then you've come to the right place!
At Start with a Friend, Tandem facilitates friendships between people with and without a history of immigration. It is particularly important to us that we create equal encounters so that friendships can develop.
We are always looking for support.
Your Tasks
Would you like to:
- share your hobby with other people and organize small events?
- make SwaF even better known in your city?
If you answer "yes" to one or both of the questions, then come and join us! 😊
Of course, you won't be doing all this alone. There is a volunteer team at each location that works together with a lot of joy, fun and SwaF spirit. We are always happy to welcome new faces. The topics of migration, diversity and anti-discrimination are very important to us. That's why we offer many different seminars in addition to our team work. You are welcome to take part. You don't need any previous experience.

Start with a Friend connects immigrants and locals in tandems based on interests and needs. Ideally, a friendship develops out of this, but in any case, a social network is created that makes it easier for immigrants to have a good start in Germany. Start with a Friend accompanies and advises the tandems after the matching and organises events to bring the tandems into contact with each other. It is also important to us to create structures in which people can get involved, even if they are tied up in their work and family life. The time schedule is therefore flexible; further training courses are offered but are optional. So far, Start with a Friend is available in 21 cities nationwide.
