About the volunteering opportunity

With #everynamecounts, you record the names and dates of victims and survivors of National Socialism. In this way, you actively engage with the past and set an example for respect, diversity and democracy today.

The documents in our archive, which document the fates of 17.5 million people, have already been scanned. However, in order to make them findable and visible worldwide in our online archive, the information must be entered into a database - with your help!

Your Tasks

You will receive documents from us that contain information about the victims and survivors of National Socialism. You can easily archive these documents digitally using our online tool. We rely on the six-eyes principle: three different helpers process each document, and only if their entries are identical are they transferred to the archive.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

You need a screen that is at least as big as a tablet. Unfortunately, mobile input is not possible.

Time required

Once

Over 115,000 volunteer supporters have helped so far. Together, we have already processed more than 7 million documents.
Help, it's easy. Just 5 minutes is enough for a document to become a new building block in the digital monument.

Where?

This project is location independent.

AROLSEN ARCHIVES

Clarifying fates and searching for missing persons: This was the central task of the Arolsen Archives for decades. To this day, we answer inquiries about around 20,000 victims of Nazi persecution every year. Our research and education services are more important than ever in order to bring knowledge about Nazi crimes into today's society. This also includes an extensive online archive. As an international center on Nazi persecution, we see it as our task to contribute to debates on remembering and coming to terms with the Nazi era, political persecution and racism.
