About the volunteering opportunity
"Urlaub ohne Koffer" offers a full-day vacation program for children without an overnight stay in various Stadtmission parishes and in different neighbourhoods over several weeks.
Are you an entertainer, joke teller, musician or artist? Are you creative and full of ideas? Are you good at cooking or listening? Are you good at interacting or talking to children? Are you free during the summer vacations and want to get involved in a great program in your area? Then become a part of "Vacation without suitcases"!
Your Tasks
You organize and accompany a week with children between the ages of 6 and 11.
The program is varied and flexible: music, theater, creativity, activities in the neighborhood, small group discussions (e.g. about Bible stories), games, cooking.
You discuss and reflect on the program as a team.
What's needed
You speak fluent German and are at least 16 years old.
Because this is a voluntary position with children, an extended certificate of good conduct in accordance with § 30a BZRG is required for the purposes of § 72a SGB VIII for volunteers. There are no costs for the certificate of good conduct.
You will enjoy this voluntary work: You enjoy working with children, are open, approachable and take the children's needs seriously. You are resilient, conscientious and have empathy. Skills and/or enthusiasm for music (instrument, singing), drama, cooking or logistics or fun in creative, sporting or other activities are desirable.
Expected attitude: You are convinced that every person has an inalienable dignity. You have a respectful attitude towards the Christian faith and other religions and world views.
Time required
During the summer vacation in Berlin 2024, one week from Monday to Friday (from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.). If you do not have the capacity to invest 5 full days, we are also happy to receive shorter support. Prerequisite for the commitment is the participation in two training days on June 7 + 8.
