Join us in convincing politicians of effective climate protection measures!

With GermanZero's policy talks, citizens all over Germany are doing committed persuasion work with their constituency representatives. They speak for the majority of the population who want to see consistent climate protection. In the Climate Dialogue, they discuss the measures needed to make Germany climate-neutral by 2035.
 why are we holding political talks?

Your Tasks

As a GermanZero local group, you enter into a dialog with your constituency representatives and present GermanZero and our draft law. We will support you in setting up such a group and in preparing such discussions with MPs.

We want to translate the existing social support into a parliamentary majority with our local group strategy. Local groups are set up in constituencies to establish constant and personal contact with their MPs in order to win them over to our plan. The local group has two functions: 

1. GermanZero is convinced that we cannot convince MPs through confrontation alone, but with conversations in which personal concerns about the consequences of the climate crisis become tangible. The local groups maintain regular contact with MPs, arrange personal meetings or invite them to events or neighborhood circles. We show that the climate crisis is an individual problem in everyday life and that there is no moral alternative to effective countermeasures. 

2. The local groups offer their representative an opportunity to tackle this crisis. Both the contact with GermanZero on a substantive level and the personal support in the constituency through the local group should enable the MP to campaign publicly and within the party for a progressive and ambitious climate policy.

In the Paris Climate Agreement, Germany committed itself to limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees with the international community. According to current research, this is only possible if Germany becomes climate neutral by 2035 at the latest.

We are the last generation that can still contain the climate crisis. So far, neither the German government nor any of the parties represented in the Bundestag have submitted a plan to this end. With its climate policy, Germany is currently heading towards global warming of 4 degrees. Although the Federal Republic is the strongest economy in Europe and the fourth largest in the world, Germany's climate balance is even lower than that of the European Union. We are far from keeping the climate promises made in Paris, to which Germany has committed itself under international law. 

That is why we need the 1.5 degree turnaround. Now.
