About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for a tandem partner for our volunteer colleague from Turkey (he already has a good command of English and German at around A2 level) to initiate and run a meeting café for men (primarily for single young refugees) as soon as possible.

The "Café" is to take place regularly, with the time and date being agreed individually with the volunteers. The regular meetings are intended to provide an informal exchange and to make new contacts, thus counteracting possible isolation.

If you are interested, we look forward to hearing from you!

Your Tasks

Implementation of a regular meeting café for men (see project description). Our volunteer coordinators provide support with the planning and implementation.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.

Strong social skills, a desire to make new contacts, reliability and sensitivity to the living situation of refugee men in Germany.

Time required

Discussed individually

The amount of time and the date are agreed individually with the volunteers.

Where?

Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. Regionalverband Östliches Ruhrgebiet

As Johanniter, we are one of the largest aid organizations in Germany. The help from person to person forms the central motive of our work. We are active in refugee work throughout Germany and support people at eye level after they have fled. We want to help people who come to Germany feel welcome, find their way to a self-determined life, and actively participate in society.
