Support and accompany a refugee family arriving in Berlin

In the mentoring project of our MARIE volunteering office, people from Berlin who want to support other people come together in 1:1 mentoring. We are looking for people who would like to accompany refugees or other people in need of support and make it easier for them to settle into a new environment. Personal contact at eye level in particular helps people to get to know each other better and learn from each other. Prejudices can thus be broken down and replaced by shared experiences.

We offer you: full-time contact persons, regular information, invitations to joint activities and events, proof of commitment, reimbursement of (BVG) travel expenses if required.

Support a family arriving in Berlin; the family of six has only recently arrived in Berlin from Syria and would like someone to help them with their initial orientation and with organizing various bureaucratic matters. They do not yet speak German, but English and Arabic. Two of the family members have a disability, which means that regular medical appointments have to be arranged, for example. Researching and contacting other institutions and advice centers is also desirable. The families live in Lichtenberg/Hohenschönhausen. If regular face-to-face meetings are not possible due to physical distance, they would also be flexible and open to contact by telephone.
