About the volunteering opportunity
We humans strive for autonomy and appreciation throughout our lives. We want to be seen and heard. This requires a community in which we can participate.
Due to physical and mental changes, we may be limited in our abilities and need help.
A shared care apartment (PWG) is a form of housing in which several people come together to receive (nursing) support without sacrificing autonomy and privacy.
The residents are the main actors. Relatives should support and participate. The care service provides support and care around the clock.
Your Tasks
The shared responsibility for everyday life and care creates a family atmosphere in which social contacts are encouraged. The focus is on self-determination through individual design and active participation in life.
The cooperation and commitment of all those involved is crucial for the successful functioning of a residential care community.
Become a trusted person.
Together with the care service and relatives, you will help to open up the shared care home to the social environment and enrich the everyday lives of the residents.
How do you do this? By listening, understanding and giving time
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
As a "Vertrauensperson" (person of trust), you need patience and a willingness to learn. People in a PWG often experience a change in dementia, which can lead to challenging behavior, especially with regard to communication. This requires calm, understanding and a certain ability to adapt to the prevailing dynamics.
Time required
We are looking for "Vertrauenspersonen" (person of trust) throughout Berlin.
The time offered can be adapted to the needs of the residents and your own time availability. There is sure to be a suitable shared care home for you!

Important notice
As a "Vertrauensperson", you are not alone. The already established players, the residents themselves and we as a contact point for trusted persons help to ensure success. Your visits alone open up the care home community to the outside world and are a great benefit for improving the quality of life of local people.
