About the volunteering opportunity
"Huckepack" (piggyback) is aimed at children of nursery and primary school age of parents with mental and chronic illnesses, especially single parents, where resources are particularly lacking.
The children are provided with selected and trained volunteer mentors who offer them regular contact and thus enable them to have a child-friendly everyday life and become permanent caregivers.
Huckepack is help that gives strength and empowers - the children's needs are at the heart of the service. Huckepack always has children's rights in mind: participation and involvement, healthy growing up, play and leisure, children's dignity and child protection are the focus of Huckepack sponsorships. Positive developmental progress can be seen in all children. They develop more self-confidence, become more open-minded, experience self-efficacy and have their own space. Sick parents are relieved and experience fewer health crises.

Your Tasks
The mentors support the children with everyday issues, go on activities together, offer spaces for experiences and recreation and are there when the child needs someone. They should be reliable and provide the children with stability and guidance.
The mentors are supervised by specialists who, in addition to recruiting, selecting and training the volunteers, also hold regular reflection meetings, further training, team meetings and individual contact and availability for all those involved.
