About the volunteering opportunity
Doctors of the World is the German section of the international humanitarian organization Médecins du Monde/Doctors of the World. Doctors of the World is committed to ensuring that all people everywhere can assert their right to health - with medical aid and political work.
In the open.med Magdeburg project, we advise and treat people without health insurance or difficult access to the healthcare system during consultation hours. The majority of our patients belong to vulnerable groups. In addition to medical care, we support these people with socio-legal and psychosocial advice. The main aim of the project is to (re)integrate patients into the regular healthcare system.
From September, we will be offering a general medical consultation twice a week for around three hours at Einsteinstraße 4a in Magdeburg.

Your Tasks
We are now looking for volunteer doctors in the following specialist areas to support our team during consultation hours:
- General practitioners
- Gynecologists
If you are a specialist in a field not listed above, we would also be happy to hear from you. We would like to expand our services for our patients and are always happy to hear from committed doctors.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- You have a license to practice medicine and may already have several years of practical experience.
- You have basic computer skills.
- You identify with the objectives and values of Doctors of the World.
- In principle, you could take on up to one consultation hour per month. Consultation days will probably be Mondays and Thursdays.
- You have good empathy skills and show sensitivity in dealing with people in precarious situations.
- You enjoy working in a team.
