About the volunteering opportunity
The heat bus is part of the Berlin City Mission's heat relief service together with the City Station and the "Cool Sunday" at the emergency overnight accommodation Am Containerbahnhof. There is also internal cooperation with the medical outpatient clinic and the mobile individual assistance service.
Your Tasks
We are looking for drivers and, above all, co-drivers to drive the heat bus through Berlin during the day and visit people who are unable to make use of the homelessness services on their own. They provide them with the necessities to survive and help them to avoid being harmed by the heat.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Prerequisites: You can communicate well in German. The minimum age is 18 years. Knowledge of Eastern European languages such as Polish, Russian or Romanian is an advantage, but not a requirement. A driver's license is desirable, but not necessary.
What we are looking for: You are open to the life situations of homeless people. You enjoy working in a team, are reliable and committed to your work. The most important thing: You have an open ear and an open heart and treat homeless people as equals.
Expected attitude: You are convinced that every person has an inalienable dignity. You are respectful of the Christian faith as well as other religions and world views.

Project-based
Time commitment: if possible once a week, at least twice a month. We are looking for a regular commitment; time off in between is possible by arrangement.
When: Wednesday - Sunday between 12:30 - 18:00, in the period from 01.06.2024- 31.08.2024
