About the volunteering opportunity
Would you like to support a unique Community Café?
At For Everyone, we are committed to creating spaces that bring people together and foster a sense of belonging. Through our creative workshops and events in Berlin, we provide opportunities for meaningful connection and dialogue.
Our No.52 Pavilion Café at Boxhagener Platz is a community space run entirely by volunteers. The café serves as a welcoming meeting point for people from the community to come together over a cup of coffee. Its location, however, is in an area with a diverse and dynamic mix of individuals, including some living in precarious circumstances. While these individuals are not the primary focus of the café, their presence is part of the environment, and we work to ensure a respectful and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. As a volunteer, you’ll play a key role in co-creating this balance and fostering a positive experience for all visitors.
If you love making and serving coffee, and you're friendly and communicative, we'd love to have you join us!
Come be part of a welcoming and friendly environment!

Your Tasks
Your tasks will include:
- Opening and closing the café, including setting up and packing down.
- Preparing and serving coffee and other beverages.
- Maintaining hygiene standards by cleaning and organizing the café space.
- Engaging with guests, sharing information about the community café and our organisation.
- Supporting creative workshops held in the café by assisting with setup and teardown.
All these tasks are vital to ensuring the café runs smoothly and serves as a welcoming, supportive space for all.
If you have experience making coffee, that's fantastic! If not, no worries-we're happy to teach you everything needed - step by step.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
- Basic German skills to communicate with guests.
- Experience in a café would be good, but not necessary - training will be provided.
- Willingness to engage with diverse people and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Attendance at one Intro-Talk and completion of two probationary shifts.
- Health certificate ("rote Karte") required by the third shift (costs reimbursed).
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 8 hours per month.
On weekdays, on weekends
CAFÉ OPENING HOURS:
Thursday and Friday: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (in the process)
Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Thursday and Friday: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (in the process)
Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
each day is divided into two shifts:
- Shift 1: 11:00 AM–02:30 PM
- Shift 2: 02:00 PM–05:30 PM
- All day (optional)
Each volunteer is expected to commit to at least three shifts per month, providing approximately 8 hours of support.
Before beginning your regular shifts, you must attend one of our Intro-Talks to learn about the café, its environment, and your responsibilities. Intro-Talks are held:
- Every first and last Sunday of the month from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM.
Participation in the Intro-Talk is mandatory. You will also complete two probationary shifts to ensure a mutual fit before officially joining the team.
Important notice
This is not an average community café. Our location comes with unique challenges due to the presence of people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health issues. Volunteers must be aware of this environment and follow specific behavioral guidelines to ensure respectful interactions with everyone involved.
Additionally:
- No prior experience is required. If you’re willing to learn, we’ll provide all necessary training, including guidance on preparing coffee and handling responsibilities.
- Volunteers must obtain a health certificate ("rote Karte") by their third shift (costs will be reimbursed). This certificate can be obtained online and takes 20 minutes max.
- Our café thrives on teamwork! You’ll always be paired with an experienced volunteer to ensure a smooth transition into your role.

Welcome to For Everyone
For Everyone is a Berlin-based non-profit that creates safe, creative, and welcoming spaces where people from all walks of life — especially internationals and newcomers — can connect and feel at home.
For Everyone is a Berlin-based non-profit that creates safe, creative, and welcoming spaces where people from all walks of life — especially internationals and newcomers — can connect and feel at home.
Through art, music, and movement, we foster real human connection, belonging, and emotional wellbeing. Our community café, No. 52 at Boxhagener Platz, hosts weekly workshops and small events for adults (mostly 18–40+). Each session blends creativity with care: it’s not about performance, but about what happens between people while they’re creating together.
Our wider vision is a diverse and resilient Berlin — a city where everyone feels at home and can take part in community life. To make that possible, we’re building the social infrastructure for belonging: connecting spaces, people, and volunteers across the city.
We believe in joy, inclusion, and authenticity — and thanks to our solidarity-based ticketing system, everyone can join, no matter their financial background.
If you care about making others feel welcome, believe in the power of creativity, and want to help people feel a little more at home in Berlin — you’re in the right place. 💛
