About the volunteering opportunity

Whether it is communicating with a landlord by email, searching for government agencies and services online, writing a job application in Word or making an online bank transfer - these are the digital skills that most people take for granted. However, the benefits of digital innovation and its use are not evenly distributed in our society. This leads to inequalities in education, employment, health and other areas of life.

Young people with a history of flight and migration typically arrive in Germany with few resources. They have little knowledge of how to access government, economic and social services in the digital world, and face cultural and linguistic barriers to understanding content. Their access to and use of digital services and information is often fraught with major hurdles, making their integration into society and orientation in everyday life more difficult.

This is where you come in!

Your Tasks

As a volunteer, you will offer basic computer courses at our partner organisations (e.g. refugee shelters, migrant housing groups, Info-Cafés) that are tailored to the needs of young people with a history of flight and migration. These courses include, for example, basic computer skills, using email, using job portals and writing job applications with Word, using online services such as Google Maps and Google Translate, or searching for government services and offices. The aim is to help refugees cope better in everyday life, improve their chances on the labour market and participate more confidently in social life.
