Moderate or prepare digital leisure events in care facilities for the elderly

Generations Digitally Connecting e.V.)

Volunteering opportunity 1: Participation or moderation of events (45 min):
Volunteers take part in leisure activities in elderly care facilities via video connection via monitor/projector, either as participants or as moderators. Every week there are many dates for quiz and discussion rounds or pop music cafés in over 30 of the cooperating facilities. So you can simply drop in at a suitable time. Support is provided by experienced moderators. You don't have to prepare anything. Presentation slides are sent out in advance.

Volunteering opportunity 2: Preparation of events / donate content (5 - 30 min):
Committed people can easily donate content for the events with photos, texts, audio and video recordings on topics such as sports, pets, vacations, professions or similar. The topics are requested by the senior citizens and are communicated to the volunteers by email every two weeks. New slides for the moderators of the quiz and music rounds are then created from the materials sent in.

You will need a computer or tablet with a webcam and an internet connection to participate.

The preparation of offers is completely flexible in terms of time. Those who want to moderate can choose between different facilities and times.

Benefits:

A further training course on virtual event management in elderly care is offered to all volunteers. It consists of a mix of shadowing, e-learning and online group sessions. Volunteers receive feedback from staff and residents on the content created. In addition, there are regular digital get-togethers for volunteers who prepare events, where they can work creatively and exchange ideas with each other. All volunteers receive a high-quality volunteer certificate for their commitment. Recognition is partly designed by identifying volunteers by name in order to identify and appreciate the achievements of individual volunteers in the overall program and to make the involvement of several volunteers conspicuous to the seniors and caregivers on site.
