foodsharing.de is a platform to give away food that would otherwise be thrown away. We have already saved hundreds of tons of food.
Our most important goal is to minimize food waste and act as effective and decentral as possible. With thousands of volunteers, we pick up food that can still be enjoyed from around 1000 firms and give it away for free. To do so, we work completely voluntarily and non-commercial. Furthermore, we are engaged to create a better conscience for the topic food waste in media, schools and other institutions.
The group 'Abholungen Messen und Feste (Berlin)' concentratres on the food waste problem on trade fairs. Exhibitors often bring a lot food to their stand as catering for emloyees or guests. In the end of the event or trade there often is a lot of food left. Taking it back would often be too much work. In those cases in which the local food banks cannot take care of those leftovers, volunteers from foodsharing.de get active and look for a solution. In case foodsharing.de takes care of the left food, everything will be given away for free and after the principles of foodsharing.de.
