Initiative BaumEntscheid

The BaumEntscheid initiative aims to make Berlin weatherproof and heat-proof by 2035. We are currently drafting the Tree Law as Germany's first concrete climate adaptation law. The law is to come into force by referendum in the 2025 federal elections. This will oblige the Berlin Senate to better protect Berlin's urban greenery and urban society against extreme weather such as drought and heat. There are many different ways to get involved by volunteering with BaumEntscheid. It is also possible to volunteer for a limited period of time, for example only for the collection phases (collecting signatures of support for the petition for a referendum and the referendum) or during other campaigns. In any case, the initiative is initially working towards the 2025 federal elections.
