About the volunteering opportunity
be-The.News" is a (participatory) online newspaper that offers citizens the opportunity to actively participate in reporting.
Our goal is to provide neutral and ad-free content created by the community for the community.

Your Tasks
Volunteers can get involved in various areas, including
- Editorial work: Researching, writing and editing articles on local and regional topics.
- Editing press releases: Viewing, adapting and publishing press releases on our platform.
- PR & Communication: Supporting communication with readers, associations and local organizations.
- Social media: Creating and maintaining content on our social media channels to increase reach and visibility.
- Photography & Video: Creation of image and video material for articles and social media.
- Technical support: Help with the maintenance and further development of our website (WordPress) and with technical tasks relating to the platform.
- Organization & Social Engagement: Support in the organization of association activities, social projects, fundraising campaigns and events to strengthen the association and the community.
- Workshops & Training: Planning and implementation of media literacy workshops, both internally for the team and externally for the community.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
the following knowledge and skills are desirable for working at Be-The.News:
- Good knowledge of German: As most of the work is done in German, advanced language skills are required.
- Interest in journalism: Enjoying writing, researching and reporting on local topics is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of WordPress: For technical support and publishing content.
- Communication skills: Important for PR work and teamwork.
- Organizational skills: Particularly useful for planning events and association work.

As we want to manage the time flexibly, we agree the exact scope of the commitment individually with the volunteers. Our aim is to find a balance that meets both the needs of the project and the time available to the volunteer. Whether it's a few hours a week or more intensive work on special projects - we adapt.
Important notice
Committed people should note that, as a voluntary project, we rely on reliability and self-organization. As our work is flexible, we require initiative and a sense of responsibility. It is also important to us that all team members are open to feedback and are willing to work in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
