About the volunteering opportunity
We are an initiative at a very early stage. We launched the Wahlheymat on International Democracy Day on September 15, 2023. Our goal is to create a Berlin where everyone can feel at home. Where everyone feels respected, heard and equal, regardless of their passport.
More than a third of Berlin's citizens come from 190 countries. Berlin is the epitome of tolerance, resilience and a diversity of voices. The city of unlimited possibilities, where walls have fallen, systems have been broken and history has been made. Our goal is to make the next chapter of its history as diverse and inclusive as its community - both native and newcomer.
Once a month, we host WahlheYmat Talks, an event for open discussions about the participation of newcomers in Berlin's public and political life.
We usually have 2-3 guests for a panel discussion followed by networking with the audience. The new series "WahlheYmat Talks" will take place in the fantastic Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek PopUp Building.
We are looking for people to support our team on site as a member of our event team on the day of WahlheYmat Talks events - including preparing and organizing the event space before the event starts as well as other necessary tasks related to the production of the event that may arise on the day of the event - and who are open to being part of this journey and making it possible for everyone to feel at home in Berlin.

Our next event will take place on February 19, 2025 at the AGB Pop-Up Saal.
We are still looking for enthusiastic helpers for this exciting event.
