About the volunteering opportunity
TranslAid is a programme run by the non-profit organization ArrivalAid to train volunteer language mediators and place them with people with a history of flight and migration.
Language mediators are of great importance for all people who have recently arrived in Germany and do not yet speak much German. They ensure mutual understanding in a wide variety of languages and provide the basic prerequisite for the work of many organizations and projects in the field of civic engagement in Munich.
We offer our volunteers a wide range of training courses, networking events, supervision and volunteer and qualification certificates.

Your Tasks
Our volunteer language mediators translate during individual consultations and appointments, e.g. legal advice, visits to the doctor and visits to the authorities. They create the conditions for conversations and support during various consultations as well as visits to the authorities and doctors' appointments.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
- Good language skills in German and another language
- Motivation to support migrants and refugees together with experts from various organizations
- Willingness to get involved on a regular basis desired

Volunteers are sent requests for assignments by e-mail and can register whether they can take on the assignment depending on their capacity.
