About the volunteering opportunity
As a volunteer at our bookstore, you’ll help organize our inventory, greet customers, and assist with checkout. In between, you can relax and browse the store yourself, immersing yourself in the world of books. If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you. By volunteering, you’ll be supporting our many projects to promote reading.
Your Tasks
We’re looking for volunteers who can step in when shifts can’t be fully staffed. Your duties in the store will include assisting customers, working the register, and, if necessary, pricing books and doing light cleanup.

On weekdays, on weekends, during the day
When and how often you fill in depends on how flexible you are, how much time you have, and how often other volunteers are unable to make it. The shifts at the small bookstore are Monday through Saturday from 1:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Our vision: Reading should be affordable for everyone - independent from his or her age, salary, social status or origin. That’s why the Büchertisch as a non-profit association supports libraries in schools, kindergartens, prisons and many other institutions. We also work in different projects to help children to access books and reading materials.
Moreover we supply various stations for free books throughout Berlin. In creating jobs and apprenticeships for people from various social backgrounds – from former homeless people to young professionals – we try to give people new perspectives.
