We meet regularly in an open, friendly atmosphere to write stories and develop new ideas together. The aim is also to set the stories as audio books in the Kiezspinne mobile sound workshop.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Only a few prerequisites are necessary to participate in the intercultural writing group. Here are some skills and qualities that might be helpful:

  • Knowledge of German from level A2: Basic knowledge of German is sufficient to participate in the discussions and exchange ideas.
  • Openness and interest in other cultures: As the group works interculturally, a respectful and curious approach to other cultural perspectives is valuable.
  • Enjoyment of writing and sharing: An interest in developing stories, sharing ideas and giving feedback is at the heart of the group.
  • Reliability: Regular participation and commitment in the group contribute to a sense of community and help to make progress together.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in a team: Whether on site or digitally, all participants should be open to different ways of working and be able to adapt to the needs of the group.

Time required

Regularly
Discussed individually
On weekdays, during the day, at night
The time frame for those involved in the writing group can be flexible and depends on the expectations and structure of the group. Here are some points that could concretize the time frame:

Regular meetings:
  • Once a week or every two weeks for about two hours.
  • Availability on fixed days of the week can be agreed in advance to encourage regular attendance.
Preparation and follow-up:
  • In addition to the meetings, it could be useful to schedule around 1-2 hours per week for writing or reading and commenting on other group members' texts.
Flexible participation options:
  • Hybrid or purely digital sessions can be offered for committed people who want to participate regardless of location.
  • Flexibility if someone is unable to attend regularly, e.g. through online participation or the option to participate asynchronously.
Project and event planning:
  • If additional projects (e.g. publication of a book or anthology) are pending, committed people could also participate in the planning and organization at times.
  • This involvement could be sporadic and voluntary, depending on interest and available time.

With these flexible options, each volunteer can adapt the time commitment to his/her individual possibilities in order to participate in the group in a sustainable and enjoyable way.
