About the volunteering opportunity

We provide learning support for children and young people from socially disadvantaged families in schools or shared accommodation. This involves, for example, language support or homework help after school. These small groups consist of 1-6 children or young people and are implemented with 180 minutes per week. This allows individual gaps to be closed in a targeted manner.

Your Tasks

The volunteers will implement the learning support program together with the children and young people. German as a second language (DaZ) is used here as language support or to help with homework. This can also be implemented in a playful way if necessary.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
What we want from you:
  • you enjoy supporting children or young people with individual learning problems
  • you enjoy passing on your knowledge, are sensitive and patient
  • Experience in working with children and young people is an advantage
  • you are reliable and communicative

Time required

Project-based
On weekdays, during the day
The small groups are supervised at the same time and in the same place every week, unless it is vacation time. There is a different program that can be offered and is coordinated and agreed with us.

Important notice

About the process:
  • You will have an introductory meeting with Caner. If this is positive, you will receive an induction in which you will receive all the important information about the implementation of tutoring in the BuT learning support program.
  • You will always have a contact person from our team who is in constant contact with the school or the shared accommodation.
  • In addition, Martina (learning therapist) offers free training courses on topics such as LRS and ADHD (with practical tips).
  • Last but not least, you can always use our own library for preparation.

Where?

Lernzeit Berlin gUG

We take our time.
Berlin schoolchildren deserve that we take time for them. That's what we do - in various programs such as Sprachbrücken, Mobile Jugend-Lern-Hilfe.jetzt, Fit für die Schule and Lernförderung an Gemeinschaftsunterkünften. With strong partners, we can offer a wide range of services and enable children and young people to have a good and successful learning time.
