About the volunteering opportunity
Volunteering for the telephone helpline is a meaningful and very fulfilling task. Become part of a strong community of people who are united by their willingness to be there for people who are in acute need. On the phone and on the computer, our volunteers are a counterpart that people can turn to - anonymously, free of charge and around the clock.

Your Tasks
Our volunteers share the service around the clock in 4-hour shifts and lend a sympathetic ear to people on the phone. A service on the computer via chat and e-mail is also possible. Every contact, every conversation is different. But that is precisely what makes the service so exciting and enriching. And meaningful, because it allows people to find comfort and help.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- a positive attitude towards life
- Willingness to accept people in need without prejudice
- Empathy and discretion
- Willingness to deal with conflict and ability to work in a team
Time required
The training takes about a year - two to three evenings per month and occasionally a Saturday.
The service then includes 3 shifts of 4 hours per month, a night shift of 4 hours every 6 - 8 weeks and attendance at 1 - 2 supervision evenings per month.

No one should have to remain alone with their distress - that's why the telephone counseling service exists. Because everyone experiences times in their lives that bring them to the edge of their strength. At these times, you need someone to support you. We offer a sympathetic ear. Around the clock. For every concern. Naturally, anonymously and with a duty of confidentiality. We are there in the dark moments. Unfortunately, we can't make problems go away, but we can try to help those in despair.
We can offer perspectives and change points of view. Or simply be there. We don't treat anyone. At the same time, everyone will find an open and sympathetic ear.
