About the volunteering opportunity

Are you committed, have good sewing experience and skills and are open to meeting people from different countries and cultures? Then you would be a good fit for our women's group "Nähstube", where women with refugee and migrant backgrounds realize their own ideas and get creative together.

Your Tasks

  • You would support the women in their sewing projects and contribute your own experience to help them.
  • You create an open and inclusive atmosphere in which people from different backgrounds feel welcome and a safe exchange is possible.
  • With your creativity, you bring in input in the form of new ideas.
  • You provide support by making the premises available and accompanying the sewing room on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MIZ in Neukölln.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
  • Experience in sewing and with sewing machines
  • possibly additional language skills (Persian, Turkish, Arabic,...)

Time required

On weekends, during the day
The sewing room takes place every week on Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm.

Location

Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. Berlin

"...because proximity counts" is the guiding principle that drives us to provide help where it is needed. In Berlin, we are there where we are needed with over 1,000 volunteers, and throughout Germany with over 52,000 volunteers: in disaster control, in integration, for lonely, elderly and sick people, for children and young people, for the dying and the grieving.
