Volunteering Engagement in the Emergency Shelters for Refugees

Refugees face many challenges when they arrive in Germany. This is particularly true for families, more than 50% of whom are under the age of 18, and the path to a new life is often fraught with uncertainty and numerous questions. This is where the support of volunteers is invaluable, providing much-needed help in various areas of life.

We are looking for committed volunteers who are willing to help in the emergency accommodation for refugee families. The tasks are varied and any form of support is welcome. For families with children, activities such as childcare and leisure programs are of great importance. Creating safe, creative spaces for children to play, learn and interact contributes to a stable and positive integration process.

In addition, promoting language integration is another important aspect of volunteering. A language café for women offers participants the opportunity to improve their language skills in a relaxed environment and to socialize with other women. This not only improves their language skills, but also strengthens their social network and helps the women to find their feet in their new environment.

There are many ways to get involved, be it by accompanying families to appointments, helping them to find accommodation or helping them to learn German. Every bit of help is valuable and helps refugees feel safer and more welcome.

We are currently looking for volunteers at various locations in Berlin - including Mitte, North, East and West. This flexibility allows you to get involved where it best suits your availability and interests.
