Visiting service for people with dementia

People with dementia in Cologne need support so that they can continue to live at home.

That's why we are looking for people who enjoy spending time with older people, are keen to get involved in new things and want to make a meaningful contribution.

With DUO, you can visit a person with dementia at home once or twice a week, giving family carers some free time for themselves.

You will be prepared for your work in a free training course. The next free training course takes place partly on an online learning platform and partly in person (two days, one evening). We also offer face-to-face training.

There are also further training courses, regular exchanges of experiences and an expense allowance.

Quote from a volunteer: "It's quite an encounter, I sit there and he talks and I listen and ask questions. He always enthusiastically recounts the stories of his youth as a communist and anti-fascist in Italy. That's also very interesting for me."

The time arrangements are made individually according to the wishes of the volunteers and the families. There are also "jumpers", but it is more realistic to arrange a fixed appointment of 1-3 hours per week, depending on capacity
