About the volunteering opportunity

At our Rheuma League Berlin health center, we offer daily exercise and health courses for people with limited mobility who are frequently affected by rheumatism. These include older people, but also children and young people. Before and after the therapies, our guests can stop off at our self-help café. Our self-help café is a lively meeting place where people with rheumatic diseases can come together, exchange ideas and have a good time. In concrete terms, we help to protect people with limited mobility from social isolation. The café operates on a donation basis and we need your support to ensure that this special place continues to function so wonderfully!

You will never be alone: a friendly team of full-time and volunteer staff will be at your side, and a good induction will ensure that you feel at home right from the start.

Curious? Then come along to a non-binding introductory meeting and get a personal impression of our work. We look forward to meeting you!

Your Tasks

Your tasks include serving coffee, perhaps baking a cake in our large kitchen or simply having a nice chat with our guests. You will also make sure that the café remains a cozy and tidy place.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
We are looking for a friendly person who likes to have a chat at the bar. If you fancy baking, you are welcome to make use of our great kitchen.

Time required

Regularly
Approx. 3 hours per week.
We would like you to support us for 2-4 hours per week. We will take your weekly schedule into account when drawing up our shift plan.

Important notice

We offer you guidance from experts, a lively exchange of experiences with other volunteers, reimbursement of costs incurred and further training and qualification opportunities. In addition, you are covered by our liability and accident insurance and can take part in free excursions and events.

Since many of our visitors have limited mobility, our health center is barrier-free, i.e. we have wide entrances, the self-help café is at ground level and we have a barrier-free toilet. The activities require little physical effort. It's best to let us know your needs and we'll see how we can adapt the commitment for you individually.

"Rheumatism" is a serious form of disease in many facets. In Germany, almost 17 million people suffer from a rheumatic disease.

Everyone can be affected: from children, to teenagers to younger or older adults.

As a registered association "German Rheumatism League Berlin", we offer those affected help to help themselves. At the center of our work are the four actions: movement, advice, meeting and accompaniment. We support, advise and accompany those affected with a variety of offers as close to home as possible in all districts of Berlin
