Language is the key - language mediators wanted for the accompanying program

Learning from and with each other as equals and helping people to help themselves are two of the goals of our support program. We offer support from their arrival in Berlin to their actual integration so that we can ensure their long-term inclusion in our society.

But all beginnings are difficult. You know what it's like and maybe you've been there too? Do you speak German and another language fluently and would you like to help other people settle in? Then we look forward to hearing from you!

You support our project for people with refugee and migrant backgrounds as a language mediator - on site, on the phone and/or when accompanying them to public offices.

There is currently a particular need for the languages Tigrinja, Somali, Arabic, French, Georgian, Turkish, Russian, Chechen and Farsi, but also for many other languages.

You should have a good command of German and another language to ensure a precise translation. You also need to be very good at dealing with closeness and distance in relation to the people you are translating for. Reliability and the willingness to work with everyone without prejudice should be the basis of this voluntary commitment. An induction phase with our trained staff is mandatory.

You are articulate and enjoy working with people. You have good empathy and sensitivity in dealing with people who are in difficult life situations or have had traumatic experiences in order to create trust and build supportive relationships from the very first conversation.
You are convinced that every person has an inalienable dignity. You are respectful of the christian faith as well as other religions and world views.
