Regular, individual one-to-one support for children and young people with disabilities

Einhorn im Kiez is a support service for families with children in need of care.
We accompany children and young people with disabilities in their free time - individually, spontaneously or in a group!

With individual support, you look after a child on a regular and long-term basis. You organize the time according to your interests and to support the family. With RuckZuck support, you respond flexibly to short-term requests from different families - you jump in whenever you have time and feel like it. And our group activities take place every Saturday: We cook, swim, visit the planetarium and more - there's always something going on with us! Join us & become a unicorn in the neighborhood!

Individual accompaniment:
You take over the weekly accompaniment of a child/young person in Berlin for 2-3 hours on a long-term basis. This accompaniment can be arranged individually and depends on your wishes/those of the families. For example, you can pick the child up from school, take them on a trip to the playground, accompany them to therapy, etc. You become a valuable, stable and regular support for the family and can build up a good relationship with the child. 

You do not necessarily need experience in working with children or people with disabilities. We welcome an open attitude, empathy and patience.

This commitment is planned on a regular and long-term basis: about 2 hours per week for at least one year.
Reliability, punctuality and regularity are very important to our families.

Regularly 2-3 hours a week, appointments are coordinated individually with the parents.

Basically, it is important to us that the families can rely on our volunteers. Basic German language skills (B2) are also important.

Before you start with us, we will carry out a competent induction with you.

Once you have become a "volunteer unicorn", you will benefit from "Einhorn educates!", for example, free participation in further training courses on our premises. There are also regular "Unicorn connects!" evenings, where you can connect and exchange ideas with other volunteers. For example, we go to a bar in the evening or cook together.

You will receive an hourly allowance for your volunteer work. In addition, you will gain many enriching experiences and, above all, have a lot of fun! :)
