About the volunteering opportunity
As the HANZ corporate network —the “Training Network for the Future”— we want to provide young people with career guidance that truly helps them move forward. Through our digital platform, MeinJobbotschafter, we connect young people with professionals from a variety of fields and offer authentic insights into the working world.
From whom? From the people who know best: from you!
As a job ambassador, you share your personal experiences with your career, training, and day-to-day work life. In a digital one-on-one conversation, young people can ask you questions, learn about your career path, and gain a realistic insight into your profession.
Your involvement is flexible, digital, and straightforward. You decide for yourself when and how often you’d like to participate. HANZ supports you with onboarding and conversation guides—no special prior knowledge is required.
With your time and experience, you can make a real difference: You’ll help young people discover new opportunities, overcome their uncertainties, and find their own career paths.
Your Tasks
As a job ambassador, you share your personal experiences from your career, education, and day-to-day work life with young people.
Using a simple calendar feature on meinjobbotschafter.de, you decide for yourself when and how often you’d like to offer a digital exchange. If a young person is interested in your job profile or career path, you’ll meet for a one-on-one conversation.
You’ll talk about your day-to-day work, answer questions, and provide authentic insights into your career path. The goal isn’t to advise the young person or recommend a specific career— it’s your personal experience that’s valuable.
You can get involved flexibly, digitally, and from anywhere. HANZ supports you with onboarding and conversation guides.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Do you want to get young people excited, inspire them, or simply answer their questions? Then you already have the most important requirement: your personal professional and life experience.
The focus is on career guidance: Through your personal experiences, young people should gain insights into the working world, ask questions, and discover new possibilities for their own paths. In particular, we want to raise awareness about vocational training—but you don’t necessarily have to have completed vocational training yourself.
What matters most is that you’re open to engaging with young people and enjoy sharing your experiences. No prior teaching or counseling experience is required.
Time required
Regularly
Discussed individually
You have complete flexibility regarding your schedule: You decide for yourself when and how often you’d like to offer a session. A virtual session usually lasts 30 minutes. We’d especially appreciate it if you offered sessions on a regular basis—that way, interested teens can easily book a session with you.
Important notice
Interactions with young people should take place on an equal footing, with respect and openness. Please take the young people’s questions and interests seriously and give them space to develop their own ideas.
As a career ambassador, you share your personal experiences—you don’t have to provide career counseling or give ready-made answers or recommendations. What’s important is to talk authentically about your own journey, your career, and your experiences.
Please also note that the young people’s personal information must be treated confidentially.
Location
This project is location independent.
