About the volunteering opportunity

Are you motivated, do you enjoy reading aloud and are you open to meeting children of primary school age from different countries and cultures? Then you would be a good fit for our reading group, where children from refugee and migrant backgrounds are given the opportunity to discover new fantasy worlds and consolidate their German language skills by reading stories and fairy tales aloud.

Your Tasks

  • You would select and read out various fairy tales and stories in consultation with the children
  • You create an open and inclusive atmosphere in which children from different backgrounds feel welcome and a safe exchange is possible.

Where?

Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. Berlin

"...because proximity counts" is the guiding principle that drives us to provide help where it is needed. In Berlin, we are there where we are needed with over 1,000 volunteers, and throughout Germany with over 52,000 volunteers: in disaster control, in integration, for lonely, elderly and sick people, for children and young people, for the dying and the grieving.
