About the volunteering opportunity
As an ombudsperson advice center for children's and young people's rights, we deal with challenges relating to the provision of services in accordance with SBG VIII on a daily basis. We help children and young people or their (foster) families to see their rights and enable them to assert these rights in discussions with providers. Even though we are not a legal advice center as such, SGB VIII is part of our daily work, which is why it would be wonderful to recruit volunteer experts who would like to share their knowledge with us.
Your Tasks
We are looking for lawyers, judges, legal advisors, students or lecturers from the field of social law, who are interested in supporting both the full-time and volunteer team in their advice on social law issues (mainly relating to SGB VIII) and/or in providing them with specialist training/workshops.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
You should be confident and competent in the specialist field of social law (SGB VIII), which is why a background in social law would be ideal.

On weekdays, during the day
We are happy to look individually at what is possible. Anything is conceivable, from answering brief questions, case discussion sessions or workshops for full-time staff and volunteers. Students of social law could also provide support in the form of legal research.
Your own ideas are of course also welcome.

We support children and young people placed in care homes or foster families, their guardians and foster families as well as young adults in Hesse in knowing their rights and articulating them to independent and public agencies. We provide independent and free advice, help to balance power imbalances and remind people of children's and young people's rights where these are not being respected.
