About the volunteering opportunity
Families with younger and older children live in our reception center. They only stay in the accommodation for a certain period of time and then move out again. This means that there is a certain change in the residents and therefore also of the children in the house. There are many great leisure activities for children in the area surrounding the accommodation, including youth leisure facilities, the city library, the music school and the "Ulme35". We want the children to get to know these and benefit from them. To do this, they need to be accompanied to these places (at least the first few times). There are also often activity days, e.g. during the vacations, where accompaniment is important.
Your Tasks
Together with the volunteer coordinator or the social team, you will select offers that the children should get to know and accompany a group of children and, if necessary, the whole family there. We will support you in the initial contact with the families, later you will take over this part independently.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Enjoy working with children
- Patience, intercultural competence and assertiveness
- Measles vaccination (if you were born after 1970)
- An extended certificate of good conduct (we can easily apply for this for you)

Asylum seekers from various countries of origin live in the refugee accommodation in Westend. The small accommodation, which is home to around 95 people, is run by a small full-time team from LfG-B (Berlin's state-owned operator for refugee accommodation). It has a large garden and is located on the same site as "Ulme 35".
