About the volunteering opportunity

The Eschenallee reception facility in Westend has a beautiful park-like garden with large beds of perennial and annual plants. The outdoor area invites adults to relax under large trees and the children living here to play in the beautiful playground. We are looking for garden-loving volunteers who would like to support us in planting and maintaining the grounds together with residents.

Your Tasks

Together we will have a look at the garden and plants, discuss your and our ideas and then we get started! We approach residents, bring them together with you and help with the timing. We provide gardening tools and gloves and you can work as long and as much (or as little) as you like.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
  • Gardening skills would be nice (but are not a must!)
  • Measles vaccination (if you were born after 1970)
  • An extended certificate of good conduct (we can easily apply for this for you)

Time required

Regularly
Discussed individually
  • By individual arrangement; a certain regularity would be nice
  • On weekdays and weekends

Location

Aufnahmeeinrichtung Eschenallee

Asylum seekers from various countries of origin live in the refugee accommodation in Westend. The small accommodation, which is home to around 95 people, is run by a small full-time team from LfG-B (Berlin's state-owned operator for refugee accommodation). It has a large garden and is located on the same site as "Ulme 35".
