About the volunteering opportunity
The Johanniter catering group is looking for committed volunteers to ensure that emergency services and victims are fed in various emergency and disaster situations as catering assistants or emergency cooks (f/m/d). You will assist with the preparation and distribution of meals or take on the responsible task of being an emergency cook. Previous experience in food preparation is an advantage. Be part of a motivated team and make an important contribution. Project-based weeks such as winter aid would also be possible.
Your Tasks
Catering assistant:
- Support with the preparation and serving of meals
- Organization and logistics of the catering stations
- Ensuring efficient and hygienic working practices when distributing meals
- Transporting food and equipment to the site
- Help with cleaning and dismantling the catering stations after use
Operational cook:
- Planning, preparing and serving meals for emergency personnel and those affected in emergency and disaster situations
- Responsibility for compliance with hygiene standards and food regulations
- Coordination of the kitchen team and organization of kitchen operations under emergency conditions
- Adapting catering to special needs (e.g. diets, allergies)
- Flexible working under sometimes challenging conditions (e.g. outdoor operations or large events)

You should be willing to undergo further training as a paramedic (extended first aid measures/medical qualification) and be available flexibly for short-term assignments

The Johanniter provide medical and rescue services, home emergency calls and volunteer in disaster and civil protection with a motorcycle squadron, a medical group and a technical/logistics group with heavy equipment.
