About the volunteering opportunity
Whether it's a soccer match or a rock concert, an opera performance or a large demonstration - every public event with lots of guests needs a first-aid service. It guarantees the participants initial medical care. Johanniter provides the necessary assistance, tailored to the number of visitors and the potential danger. Our helpers provide first aid at accident assistance points or directly to casualties on site. If necessary, they organize transport to a suitable hospital. In order to be prepared for emergencies, we regularly train our emergency services in practical exercises.
Your Tasks
Catering assistant:
- Support with the preparation and serving of meals.
- Organization and logistics of the catering stations.
- Ensuring efficient and hygienic working practices during meal distribution.
- Transporting food and equipment to the site.
- Assisting with the cleaning and dismantling of the food stations after use.
Operational cook:
- Planning, preparing and serving meals for emergency personnel and those affected in emergency and disaster situations.
- Responsibility for compliance with hygiene standards and food regulations.
- Coordinating the kitchen team and organizing kitchen operations under emergency conditions.
- Adapting catering to special needs (e.g. diets, allergies).
- Working flexibly under sometimes challenging conditions (e.g. outdoor operations or large events).
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
We will train you in the catering team - you don't need any prerequisites.

Important notice
You should be willing to undergo further training as a paramedic (extended first aid measures/medical qualification) and be available flexibly for short-term assignments

An aid organization with tradition: Johanniter has been active in Salzgitter for more than 40 years. The Johanniter provide medical and rescue services, home emergency calls and volunteer in disaster and civil protection with a motorcycle squadron, a medical group and a technical/logistics group with heavy equipment.
