About the volunteering opportunity
A call for support from Berliner Tiertafel e.V.
The Berliner Tiertafel supports pet owners with little income in caring for their pets. The aim is to prevent people from having to part with their pets in an already difficult life situation.
Sometimes things happen very quickly: sudden job loss, an accident at work or a serious illness, a separation or the death of a partner, a pension that is too small or other circumstances mean that people find themselves in a financial bottleneck and can no longer provide adequate care for their animals. During the coronavirus pandemic, many pet owners found themselves in need of assistance due to short-time working or redundancy.
Due to the continuing price increases in energy and the general cost of living, more and more pet owners are reaching their financial limits.
But giving up your pet because you can no longer afford it? Unthinkable. The fates are varied, but they all have one thing in common: people and their animals want to stay together.

Your Tasks
Once a month, our association distributes pet food and accessories to animal owners from Ukraine who are in need of help. We are looking for animal lovers who speak Ukrainian and/or Russian to help with the reception, taking in new animals, handing out donations and other tasks. We start the day with breakfast together and a team meeting. You can try out the different areas of work. You will be trained by experienced helpers everywhere.
