About the volunteering opportunity
Did you know that pink light makes lettuce sprout? That you don't need a bed of soil to garden, just a wall?
That around 70% of the world's population will live in cities by 2050 and that it therefore makes sense and is sustainable to bring agriculture into the city and into the vertical?
In our non-profit company EduGarden gUG (see www.edugarden.org), we want to set up learning and experience locations for vertical farming and urban agriculture. In our cooperation project with the Bildungscampus Kalk (bildungscampus-kalk.de), we are developing educational programs on the topics of vertical farming, nutrition and urban agriculture.
At BCK, an intensively networked school, children and young people from all walks of life, from kindergarten to professional life, are encouraged to discover their talents. The aim is to give young people individual opportunities for their future. At the BCK, butterfly pedagogy creates the conditions for children to develop and discover the future skills of sustainable knowledge and action for themselves. This involves working with the areas of "self-organized learning" (SoL) and "learning through experience" (LdE).
At Edugarden, we develop our programs inclusively and our team is diverse. We are looking for volunteers who would like to work in the lab on an hourly basis, learn about vertical farming and get to know butterfly pedagogy!

We are the mueslis of our generation and we use innovative technical solutions. In our non-profit company, we want to build learning and experience centers for vertical farming and urban agriculture. In the near future, vertical farming will be part of a sustainable circular economy in the city. The UN's Green Cities Initiative recommends vertical farming as a building block of sustainable green urban development.
And we want to bring it to the center of society now. We are vertical farmers and we are social farmers. Because ALL means that we live the form of diversity and inclusion that nature uses to create resilient and living systems - in which EVERYONE can participate and get involved in shaping our future.
