About the volunteering opportunity

ENIE e.V. cordially invites you to this year's Frankfurt Intercultural Week. Under the motto "Südwind in Frankfurt - Cultures, Ideas, Future", we are organizing a colourful series of events full of encounters, exchange and creativity together with Frankfurt associations, initiatives and cultural workers.

Thanks to the support of the Places to See program, visits to participating museums are free of charge. To ensure that as many people as possible can take advantage of this offer, we are looking for volunteers who speak German and another language to translate live during the tours of the museums and build linguistic bridges.

Your Tasks

The volunteers should act as language mediators during the free museum tours.
You support visitors by translating the content of the tours from German into another language in real time so that as many people as possible - regardless of their language skills - can take part in the offerings.

In this way, you make an important contribution to intercultural understanding and to breaking down language barriers during Frankfurt Intercultural Week.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
  • Very good knowledge of German and fluency in another language
  • Openness and enjoy communicating with people from different cultures
  • Reliability and punctuality

Time required

Once
On weekdays, on weekends, during the day
The commitment takes place as part of Frankfurt Intercultural Week 2025. The assignments in the museums take place on fixed dates between September 20 and 29, during the scheduled guided tours (approx. 1-2 hours per assignment). The exact times will be agreed with the volunteers in advance.

Important notice

Volunteers should be respectful, neutral and supportive during the guided tours. A brief introduction to the respective museum and the content of the tour will be provided prior to the assignment. Please note that the role of language mediation does not replace professional interpreting, but contributes to better understanding.

Location

Enie e.V.

Enie e.V. is a non-profit association. It was founded in 2016 by a group of parents from the Taunus region (Hesse, Germany).

Since its beginnings, Enie has seen itself as a cultural and educational space that aims to promote the Spanish language and Hispanic/Latin American culture. The name "Enie" is derived from the letter "ñ", which does not exist in the German alphabet but is a unique symbol of the Spanish language.

Over time, Enie e.V. has expanded its field of activity. In the future, Enie wants to develop into a multicultural and multilingual initiative, supporting multilingual families, strengthening social integration and building a community through linguistic and cultural diversity.

Enie e.V. is already more than just a cultural association. It has become a meeting place where families and individuals support each other and create lasting connections. We believe that multilingualism and multicultural understanding are key building blocks for building an inclusive future in a globalized world.

That is why we focus on multilingual families, schools and migrant communities. With our programs, we aim to promote and strengthen the personal and cultural development of children, young people and adults.
