About the volunteering opportunity
Around 70 children and young people live in residential groups and children's village families at the SOS-Kinderdorf Worpswede. They are supported on a day-to-day basis by our housekeeping team, with courier and transportation services and the maintenance of the family homes and outdoor facilities.
Your Tasks
- Carrying out and planning courier services for the teams and driving services with the children and young people of the SOS-Kinderdorf
- Vehicle maintenance
- Carrying out errands and manual work independently
- Assisting with the maintenance of outdoor facilities and waste disposal logistics
- Implementation of child and caregiver protection
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
The only requirement for the BFD is the completion of compulsory schooling. In addition, people can take part in the Federal Volunteer Service regardless of age, nationality and school-leaving qualification.
You will be taught interesting specialist topics in 25 free seminar days. The seminars take place in fixed groups with other volunteers and provide space for exchanging experiences.

Volunteers in the Federal Volunteer Service are employed by us full-time, 38.5 hours per week.
As a rule, the duration of the BFD with us is 12 months, but it can be shortened to up to 6 months or extended to a maximum of 18 months. At the end of your work, you will receive a written certificate about the activities at your placement as proof that you have completed your voluntary service.

Important notice
Your volunteer work will be remunerated with a monthly "pocket money" and a food allowance. If you need accommodation, we can usually offer you free accommodation in our children's home. If this is not possible, you will be paid an accommodation allowance (a so-called "monetary compensation").
