About the volunteering opportunity
Are you looking for weekend volunteering?
Our Waffle Club is looking for support for 2-3 hours on Sundays in Neukölln.
Young adults with psychiatric illnesses live in the transitional home in Neukölln. Every Sunday there is an offer for the residents: A get-together with background music, waffles and fun: in other words, "The Waffle Club".
In addition to baking waffles, you can offer casual activities such as jigsaw puzzles, card games or something you like to do yourself: handicrafts, music, cooking, baking....
Bring in yourself and your talent.
In spring there will also be the opportunity to meet in the garden again.

They are looking forward to support so that a WAFFEL-CLUB can take place every week.
You are not solely responsible for the offer, there is always another volunteer and full-time staff member present.

Your Tasks
- Regular meetings on Sundays
- Consultation with the volunteer team
- Offer joint activities
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.
- Sensitivity and empathy in dealing with people with mental illnesses
- Strong communication skills, relationship building and the ability to have an open conversation
- Willingness to meet regularly
- A respectful and open demeanor, with active encouragement
- Be aware that relationship building is very important in the psychiatric field and that the leisure group needs to establish itself first.
Time required
Regularly
Approx. 2 hours per week.
On weekends, during the day
Every Sunday or every second Sunday.
Approx. 2-3 hours per week, e.g. from 2 pm.
Important notice
You will be trained on site by our colleagues to ensure that you are familiar with the needs and details.
It is helpful, but not a requirement, to have a first aid course.
