About the volunteering opportunity

The andersARTick meeting point is a meeting place for people with and without disabilities of all ages. It is intended to help maintain and expand networks of mutual support in the context of helping people to help themselves. Mon - Fri from 2 pm to 6 pm, volunteer hosts offer the opportunity to talk, wait for the bus or train, play games or do creative work, and act as guides to further help with various problems. Drinks and pastries are available for a donation and various handmade items are offered for sale to cover the costs. Various self-help groups meet on Wednesday evenings and on the first Saturday of the month we offer a dinner for everyone (Gemeinsam gegen Einsam).
Helpers can sign up for the roster according to their wishes and capacities. It doesn't matter whether it's for an hour or a whole afternoon, regularly or occasionally. All employees meet approximately every 6 weeks for a service meeting, where special incidents or suggestions for change are discussed constructively.

Your Tasks

As host, you are responsible for the preparation and follow-up of the rooms (cleanliness, drinks, snacks, tidiness, etc.).
You are the contact person for all guests and offer an open ear for discussions. We emphasize that we are not therapists or social workers, but just normal people without any special training in these areas. For larger problems or special situations, we have a list of contacts that you can refer to.
You make coffee, prepare cakes or cookies, sell the meeting point's handmade products on request and check the toilet for cleanliness in between. You fill and empty the dishwasher and take out the garbage.
If required, you can play board games/ cards with the guests or help them with creative design if you are a creative person yourself.

Important notice

The andersARTick meeting point is not yet barrier-free. Therefore, wheelchair users can only use the rooms to a limited extent (e.g. the toilet area and kitchen are not wheelchair-accessible, two steps in front of the main entrance can be overcome with a mobile folding ramp). As a team, however, we are always looking for ways to enable people with physical disabilities to volunteer at the meeting point. Everyone can get involved within the scope of their own abilities, and we try to overcome challenges together.

Location

andersARTick e.V.

We all tick a little differently and it depends on the art to let this become an advantage for all sides.
That's exactly what we want to try: to regard every person as equally valuable, regardless of what special equipment (handicap / disability) this person has. Everyone has deficits, but we want to look at the strengths that everyone has and with which he or she can help others in one way or another. We want to live real inclusion in everyday life.

The Bible is the basis of our association and the dissemination of biblical content one of our goals.

We do not represent any church and everyone is welcome with us, no matter what he / she believes, where a person comes from or what special features this person has (physical, mental, spiritual).

To join us you do not have to become a member, because our projects are freely available to anyone who wants.
