About the volunteering opportunity
At Henriettenstift Kirchrode – Zentrum für Medizin im Alter, we are looking for committed people to give valuable time and attention to our patients on the acute geriatric wards with geriatric early rehabilitation. We would like to set up a new team of volunteers as a visiting service. Your visit can provide encouragement, comfort and support the healing process - especially in a phase of life in which many older people are particularly dependent on empathetic encounters.
Your Tasks
Your task - giving closeness and joie de vivre:
You visit patients on our wards who often receive few or no visitors.
With open ears and a warm heart, you offer conversation, listening and small gestures of attention.
If required, you can run small errands or provide simple assistance.
You help to make everyday life during rehabilitation brighter and more human - be it through a chat, laughing together, reading aloud from the newspaper/ a book or simply just being there.

What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, intermediate German skills are required.
Empathy, sensitivity and enjoyment of contact with older people.
Initiative and a desire to actively approach people.
Desirable, but not a must (we also learn together): Experience or training in conversation skills or in dealing with people with dementia.

Wünschenswert ist ein Einsatz vor allem am Nachmittag und am Wochenende. Individuelle Absprachen sind aber auf jeden Fall möglich.
