Support wanted for the acceptance of donations at the Textilhafen

The inclusive company "Komm&Sieh" runs four second-hand neighborhood stores, the TEXTILHAFEN with a material pool, the upcycling label WaterToWine, the clothing store, logistics kitchen and laundry for homeless people and helps with professional apartment liquidations. The proceeds from "Komm&Sieh" support the social projects of the   Berlin City Mission.

The TEXTILHAFEN is the central sorting point for all textile donations. This is where we primarily sort items for our clothing store for homeless people; we try to sell what cannot be used there in our neighborhood stores or in the material pool.

We are looking for volunteers to take care of the personal acceptance of donations on site at the Textilhafen. You will welcome the donors, explain to them how the donations will be used and inspect the individual items of clothing. If no donors come to us at the moment, you will help us pack the clothes for the clothing store or sort the material pool.

You will enjoy this voluntary work: You have an interest in or previous knowledge of textiles, a cheerful, confident personality and good communication skills. You are patient and have a high level of empathy when dealing with donors and people with disabilities. You want to actively approach our donors, advise them and help carry and stow the donations.

Requirements: It is important that you can communicate well in German. Knowledge of English is an advantage, but not a must. You must be 18 years old to volunteer.

When: Monday - Saturday between 9:00 am - 04:00 pm.

Time required: Once a week, from 2 hours. The times can be arranged individually. We would like

a regular commitment.

Expected attitude: You are convinced that every person is given inalienable dignity and are prepared to act in accordance with the Code of Conduct of the Berlin City Mission. You are respectful toward the Christian faith as well as other religions and worldviews.
