About the volunteering opportunity
HENRIKE is a unique place in Hanover: the obstetrics departments of DIAKOVERE Friederikenstift and Henriettenstift are joining forces with the neonatal intensive care unit of the children's and youth hospital AUF DER BULT. In future, everything that mothers, babies and families need will be under one roof - for a safe start in life without unnecessary transportation.
To make this heartfelt project a reality, we are looking for committed volunteers to support parents, siblings and our team with their heart and energy.
Your Tasks
Your possible areas of work

Welcome and information service: greet families, help them find their way around and give them a smile.

Support for siblings: playfully look after the little ones while parents and baby are being looked after.

Build linguistic and cultural bridges: Help families fill out paperwork or translate.
- Create a feel-good atmosphere: Provide small gestures of attention - from tea to a helping hand
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Basic requirements

Empathy and friendliness - an open heart and the ability to approach different people in an appreciative manner.

Reliability and discretion - showing up on time, keeping agreements and respecting the privacy of families.

Ability to work in a team - willingness to work closely with clinic staff and other volunteers.

Composure in sensitive situations - remaining calm and respectful even during emotional moments.
Desirable, but not essential

Basic knowledge of German, other language skills are a plus (e.g. English, Arabic, Turkish).

Intercultural sensitivity - understanding of different values and customs.
- Experience working with children or families is helpful, but not a requirement.

Important notice
There are a few formalities we need to consider:
- Minimum age: usually 18 years.

Participation in a short introduction/training (e.g. hygiene, data protection, procedures in the clinic).

Proof of vaccination and hygiene (e.g. measles vaccination, hygiene instruction in accordance with the Infection Protection Act).
- An extended certificate of good conduct if regular contact with children is planned.
