About the volunteering opportunity
Hi, we’re Lilipad! We work to build libraries for children who are subject to social exclusion. We have libraries in many countries, as well as several in refugee housing centers across Berlin. We’re always looking for volunteers to drop by our libraries and read with the kids, help with workshops, and more. If you have the time and enthusiasm to build meaningful relationships with the kids at one of our libraries, we’d love to hear from you!
Your Tasks
It is expected that volunteers commit to visiting one of our libraries at least once a month for a minimum of one year and ideally even more. We hope to build meaningful and lasting connections across our communities, and such connections, particularly with children, take time and consistency.
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
Experience working with children is great, but not required. Equally, language skills in languages such as Arabic, Ukrainian, and Turkish are very helpful, but also not required.
Time required
Regularly
Discussed individually
On weekdays, during the day
Library visits are typically an hour to two hours, weekly or bimonthly. Generally, the best time to stop by the libraries is in the afternoon.
Important notice
If you are interested in joining our team, please visit our website linked below, and fill out the volunteer application form. We'll get back to you as soon as possible! Due to our small staff size, messages via Vostel may not be answered in a timely manner.

Location
Lilipad e.V.
Lilipad is a non-profit initiative that started in Berlin in 2017. Our aim is to empower children in vulnerable communities by fostering education.
To accomplish this, we build long-lasting partnerships with local institutions and organisations, and provide them with books, educational materials, and support.
