About the volunteering opportunity
Enrich your home with intercultural exchange!
For our federal volunteers from Tanzania and Mozambique, we are looking for a friendly and open-minded host family who are willing to open their doors and their hearts for 1 year from July/August 2026. The volunteers are between 18-26 years old and take part in the development volunteer service weltwärts. The program enables young adults from the Global South to spend a year working and getting involved in social or ecological projects in Germany.

Your Tasks
We are looking for a caring, temporary home where interaction is possible at eye level - with space for joint discussions, mutual learning and cultural exchange.
Volunteers work full-time in social or ecological projects in Darmstadt and the surrounding area and need a stable, supportive environment.

As a host family you provide:
- an own room and board
- an interest in intercultural exchange
- openness, patience and enjoyment of learning together
- support in everyday life (e.g. orientation, shopping)
Desirable: good public transport connections, openness to different cultures and knowledge of English.
It is about the admission of ONE person, additional admission possible by arrangement!
What's needed
For this volunteering opportunity, advanced German skills are required.

On weekdays, on weekends, at night
The voluntary service is limited to one year.
