Workshops at secondary schools on sexual, romantic and gender diversity

SCHLAU Düsseldorf is an educational and anti-discrimination project. We offer workshops on sexual, romantic, and gender diversity at secondary schools. The workshops are designed to help young people interact with queer people and break down prejudices.

SCHLAU is an educational project that fights discrimination.

We hold workshops at secondary schools.

In the workshops, we talk about the different ways people can live and love. We also talk about how people can have different genders.

In the process, the students get to know queer people. They can ask questions and start conversations with one another.

In this way, we aim to break down prejudices and show that all people are different and all deserve respect.

Lead workshops for teens in 7th grade and up (at least two people required)
You are LGBTIQ+, between the ages of 16 and 30, and would like to share your personal experiences with teens and answer their questions.

You’ll lead workshops for teens in 7th grade and up.

You’ll always lead the workshop together with at least one other person.

You are LGBTIQA+ yourself. 

That means:

You are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, inter, asexual, or queer.

The  “+” stands for other sexual orientations and genders.

You are between 16 and 30 years old.

You’ll share your own experiences with the young people.

The young people can ask you questions.

You answer their questions and engage in conversation with them.

Ability to work well with others, reliability, and no fear of speaking about personal experiences in front of up to 30 people

You enjoy working with other people.

You stick to agreements.

You enjoy speaking in front of a group.

You enjoy sharing your own experiences.

The group can have up to 30 people.

The workshops are usually held in the morning. 

You can decide for yourself how many workshops you’d like to attend. 

Our team meetings are held once a month in the afternoon or evening.

We have a safety plan and quality standards that we adhere to. We work from an intersectional perspective and therefore also adopt an intersectional approach. We especially welcome people with intersectional perspectives—for example, people who are queer and BI_PoC, queer and disabled, as well as queer women and TIN* (trans*, inter*, non-binary) individuals.
Our team currently consists only of white people, and we are engaged with anti-racist and race-sensitive perspectives. We are members of both the “Anti-Racist Stance” working group and the “Gender Diversity” working group at SCHLAU NRW. We recognize that mistakes can happen, but we are committed to continuing to learn, listen, and stand up for one another.
We do not tolerate any form of discrimination within our team.
