About the volunteering opportunity
The cooking meeting is aimed at people who live on the margins of our society, are materially poor, lonely and/or mentally ill or have experience of addiction. We cook together in a small group and eat together.
Our guests learn how to shop cheaply and cook healthily. In this way, we help them to eat sustainably within their financial means, live healthier and improve their quality of life.
We also focus on community. Loneliness is a major social problem. In our cooking meetings, we satisfy not only the physical but also the emotional hunger for closeness and encounters.

The cooking meeting is an offer of our association Netzwerk Nächstenliebe, in which we have bundled many very different social and diaconal offers. The cooking meeting takes place in the Friedenskirche in Braunschweig. It is obligatory to say grace during the meal.

If you decide to provide regular support, you will need an infection control certificate. This is prescribed by the health authorities. We will cover the costs for this.

Your Tasks
Your tasks:
- Help with setting up and tidying up (e.g.: setting up tables and stacking them again at the end, vacuuming, washing dishes by machine)
- Prepare the food together with the guests / (co-)lead a cooking group. Three cooking groups are formed: Starter, main course and dessert

For this volunteering opportunity, basic German skills are required.
