About the volunteering opportunity

We are looking for website developers for our newly founded project "The Feminist Bookmap". We all work voluntairly on developing a database for feminist literature, bookstores, libraries and projects. At the heart of it all is an accessible website, feministbookmap.com which has been developed by Jana and Helen on Wordpress. The rest of the team consist of the founders Alice and Nita who are working on the cooperation with partners around the world. Additionally, we are looking for a social media volunteer.

Your Tasks

We are looking for a volunteer to support us with continously growing and developing our website in cooperation with our team. As a database, the website is constantly developing and we have many ideas for features to add in the future. Basic elements of the website are:

- A form to enter new data
- tools for increased accessiblity

The project is a learning curve for all of us and we are happy to work with you, no matter how much experience you already bring. However, for your orientation, here are the basic tools we are using and the skills that would be helpful:

We are looking forward to meet you!

The Feminist Bookmap

The Feminist Bookmap is a world map showcasing feminist bookstores, libraries, literature and authors. It is a platform encouraging reading and promoting cultural appreciation of intersectional feminist perspectives. We aim to highlight local female, non-binary, LGBTQI+ and BIPoC writers who are often overlooked in the cultural sector.
